SubPlans with Student Photos

#cotlf #edchat #edtech Make your sub’s life easier by giving him/her a seating chart complete with student pictures. Use Pinnacle to create the chart quickly and easily.

Log in to Pinnacle and click on “Seating Chart” under “Attendance.” (You may need to click on “Home” in the top left corner to see this option if you’re in the gradebook grid.)

Then choose the class tab at the top and drag student pictures over to the right to arrange them.

Use the Windows Snipping Tool to capture a screen shot of your seating chart, then print the image you’ve created!

Embedding Websites Into Notebook

#cotlf #smarttech #edtech If you’ve upgraded to Notebook 11, there’s a new feature that allows you to embed websites right into your presentation. Go to the Insert menu & select Internet Browser.

Type or copy & paste the address of the website you’d like in the field at the bottom of the window that appears and hit enter.  Notice that the website window has the same handles as any other object in Notebook and can also be pinned in place.

Google Earth – Travelling in Time

#cotlf #edtech #sschat Help your students see how much the world has changed with Google Earth’s historical feature! Just click on the clock icon on the top tool bar, and you’ll be able to see images of the area at different points in time.

The number of historical images varies by location, so visit a few different places! Check out Loveland’s Centerra Mall below (images from 1999, 2005, & 2011):

Pinterest

#cotlf #edtech #edchat If you’re looking for inspiration this summer, check out Pinterest. Pinterest is a site that allows you to save images from the Internet to collections for later reference. What makes Pinterest all the rage is that these boards are shared with the Pinterest community. As a result, you can see what images other people all over the world are saving and search for images by topic. Pinterest has become popular among teachers due to the vast number of images related to education. Search “Education” and you will find bulletin board ideas, worksheets, lesson plan ideas, and much, much more! The better the image/idea, the more people will save it, so the best ideas “float to the top” of the search list for you to see. You will also find great ideas for DIY projects, home decorating ideas, travel ideas…you name it! Be aware that any image you save is viewable by anyone (there is currently no way to make a board/image private), and depending on your settings, may be posted to your Facebook account.
